SPS — Seglamater Privacy Standard
Documentation coming soon
The full SPS scanner documentation is being prepared for this site. In the meantime the scanner is already open source and usable today — see below.
What is SPS?
SPS is an open-source privacy scanner that grades any website against the Seglamater Privacy Standard. It evaluates 24 publicly observable checks across six categories — transport security, security headers, tracking and third parties, cookie behavior, email/DNS security, and best practices — and returns a score from 0 to 100 with a letter grade.
It runs as a CLI for one-off scans, an HTTP API with badge and dial generation and scheduled re-scanning, and a CI action that can fail a build when a site's privacy score drops below a threshold. Everything it checks is publicly observable — no cooperation from the scanned site required.
SPS is GPL-3.0 and free to self-host. The specification itself is published under CC BY 4.0.
Designed for people who want:
- A transparent, binary rubric. Every check is pass or fail, no partial credit, fully documented.
- Self-hostable infrastructure. Run the API with SQLite out of the box or PostgreSQL for production; pluggable storage backends.
- CI enforcement. Gate your own deployments on a minimum privacy grade.
Status
Coming soon on this site. The scanner is open source now; a dedicated documentation subsite will follow once the SPS repository is published on Seglamater's public code host.
