Facet
Facet is in development and is not yet part of the Hivemind install
Facet is designed as Hivemind's conversational surface rather than a separate product. It is not currently included in the Hivemind bundle, and installing Hivemind today does not install Facet. This page describes what Facet is for and where it is going, not what ships today. Facet is also covered in the Hivemind documentation, which is where its reference material will grow.

What is Facet?
Facet is the conversational surface of Hivemind — the part a person actually talks to. Where Hivemind holds the knowledge, policy, permissions and orchestration state, Facet is where you ask it something, review what it proposes, and approve or decline the work.
It is designed for teams who want the convenience of talking to their systems in plain language without giving up the authorization model that makes that safe.
Designed for teams that want:
- Identity-aware answers. Facet signs you in through your own identity provider and carries that identity into every request. Two people asking the same question get answers scoped to what each of them is allowed to see.
- Approval, not autopilot. Anything consequential arrives as a proposal you approve or decline. Facet asks; it does not act on its own authority.
- Authorization it cannot talk its way around. Every read and every proposed action is authorized by Hivemind against your policy. Facet holds no privileges of its own and cannot assert a stronger identity than the one you signed in with.
- Reach you where you are. The goal is approvals that don't require sitting at a terminal — a conversational surface wherever you already work.
Status
Pre-alpha, and part of Hivemind. Facet is developed, versioned and released inside Hivemind rather than on its own track: there is no separate Facet download, repository or version number. The identity model, the authorization path and the approval flow are the parts being built first, because they are the parts that have to be right before anything else matters.
Facet is multi-user by design even in its earliest deployments: roles and capabilities come from your identity provider, not from configuration inside Facet.
Hivemind is in private alpha with design partners. Facet does not ship with it yet; a Hivemind invitation does not currently include Facet. The multi-user scoping described above is the design, and is not yet delivered — today's deployment authenticates with a single administrator credential.
